The Christian funeral is a liturgical celebration of the Church. The ministry of the Church in this instance aims at expressing efficacious communion with the deceased, at the participation in that communion of the community gathered for the funeral, and at the proclamation of eternal life to the community. If you have a family member who is declining in health or dying, contact the parish (612-379-2259) so the Sacraments for the dying can be administered.
When a family member has died, please contact the parish (612-379-2259) as soon as possible. Our Lady of Lourdes will work with the funeral director and your family to plan the funeral liturgy and other details.

Schedule a meeting with Our Lady of Lourdes clergy & staff once a funeral date is set. This is an opportunity for your family to share experiences and memories of your deceased family member to assist clergy in preparing for the liturgy. The staff will assist you in selecting readings, music, and liturgical ministers.

Funerals are typically scheduled at 10:00 or 10:30am on weekdays.
Our Lady of Lourdes can accommodate a one-hour visitation prior to the funeral liturgy. Any wake/visitation for the evening prior to the funeral would take place at a funeral home and are arranged with the funeral director.
Hofstede Hall can be rented for a funeral luncheon for $400. The maximum number of people we can accommodate is 80. You must use a licensed caterer. Caterers who have catered funeral luncheons at Our Lady of Lourdes:
Our Lady of Lourdes staff will work with the Funeral Director and family to plan the burial/cemetery arrangements.
While the Catholic Church accepts cremation, (click here), it is preferred that the body of the deceased be present in the Church for the funeral. If possible, cremation should be delayed until after the funeral. The funeral rites for a Catholic consist of bring the body of the deceased to the Church for the liturgy, followed by internment, preferably in the consecrated ground of a Catholic Cemetery. Burial can take place later and arrangements can be made with Our Lady of Lourdes for clergy to be present.
Street parking is available free of charge during the funeral. There is also parking available at the Riverside Ramp located at Bank St SE and 2nd St SE.
