Recently, I wrote to Archbishop Hebda and requested to retire from a ministry assignment in this Archdiocese due to becoming Florida residents this year. At the end of last year, I retired from my position at the Chancery as Director of Clergy. I have received an assignment at Our Lady of Light in Fort Myers Florida, which is a parish with a faith community of over 3,600 families.
It has been a privilege to witness your Catholic Christian lives during my time with you. I will miss the opportunity to serve with Fr. John Bauer who is an excellent pastor and leader with a great sense of humor. You are in good hands with Father Bauer, a fine priest.
In closing, I would like to share a quote from Fr. Pedro Arrupe, SJ who was a long time Superior General of the Jesuits.: “Nothing is more practical than finding God and falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what you will get you out of bed in the morning, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.”
